Dehradun has an airport of its own. Known by the name of 'Jolly Grant
Airport' it is situated at a distance of hardly 25 km from the city
center. Simplifly Deccan (earlier Air Deccan) is the only airline that
provides direct flights for reaching Dehradun from New Delhi. It
operates regular flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
By Rail
Dehradun has a railway station of its own, which falls on the Northern
Railway. The station has a number of trains linking the city with all
the major cities of India, like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow,
etc. For coming from New Delhi, the best trains will be Shatabdi Express
and Jan Shatabdi Express.
By Road
Dehradun has an excellent road network, which ensures that the city
remains connected with the rest of the country. It has good road links
with Delhi (235 km), Agra (381 km), Lucknow (582 km), Jaipur (493 km),
Calcutta (1562 km), Chennai (2365 km) and Mumbai (1578 km). One can
easily find buses - public as well as private, to reach Dehradun, from
all the major cities in and around Uttaranchal.
