By Air
Nainital, the small, serene town it is, lacks an airport of its own.
However, this deficiency has been more than made up by the Pantnagar
airport, situated at a distance of around 70 km. It is connected with
the major cities of India, through regular and direct flights. Jagsons
Airlines operates regular flights between Pantnagar and New Delhi.
By Rail
Kathgodam railway station, situated around 35 km away, is the nearest
railhead from Nainital. It is a terminus of the North Eastern Railway
and is well connected with New Delhi, Calcutta and Lucknow, through
regular train services. The next nearest station is the one at Lalkuan,
around 60 km from Nainital. It has rail links with Bareilly, Agra and
Lucknow, by narrow gauge.
By Road
You can easily get regular taxi and bus services for Nainital, from
Lalkuan and Kathgodam. UPSRTC (Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport
Corporation) also provides direct buses for reaching Nainital from New
Delhi, Lucknow and other keys cities of the country. Apart from that, a
number of private tour operators also provide buses for traveling to the
hill resort from Delhi.
