New
Delhi is located in the heart of the Indian Subcontinent. Owing to the
fact that it is situated away from the sea, Delhi has a very extreme
climate. During summers, i.e. in the months of April - June, the sun
shines brightly with all its glory. The scorching heat of the sun
becomes unbearable at times. The temperature rises to an exceptionally
high level of 45o C - 47o C. Therefore, it is advised light and
comfortable cotton clothes in Delhi as far the question of 'what to
wear' here is concerned. Also carry hats, sun glasses and sun screen lotion to save yourself from the harmful rays of the sun. During the monsoons i.e. in July - August, New Delhi gets a very average rainfall. The rain showers provide respite from the intolerable temperature. But at times, it becomes a bit humid because of the rise in moisture in the air. During this time it is advisable to dress up in clothes which allow your body to breathe. Again, cotton is a good option as the attire for Delhi travel.
In contrast to this, Delhi experiences chilly winters during the months October to February. It is better to keep yourself equipped with woolen clothes during this time, to escape from the cold waves flowing in the season. The winters are usually dry in the capital with hardly any rainfall. Carry woolen caps, socks, gloves, mufflers to stay warm. Also remember to wear comfortable shoes and sandals that will help you to walk long distances easily.
